Have just been reading "Trace Your Roots With DNA" by Megan Smolenyak and Ann
Turner in hopes of determing how DNA testing can help my family research.
The authors state that Y DNA testing cannot prove descent from a particular
ancestor but instead that DNA is an objective and independent form of evidence
which can be used to support or negate a theory or help cooraborate other
evidence. Definitely a good book for anyone to read who is considering DNA testing
for genealogical purposes.
