Interesting map, although (as usual) it neglects East Florida. The King's
Highway continued south of Savannah to the colonial capital at St. Augustine,
thence along the coast to New Smyrna. At New Smyrna, it split into two
branches. One continued south along the coast to what is now Miami, and was known
variously as the Capron Trail, the Harney Trail, or merely an extension of the
King's Highway. The other (better used) fork veered southwest across the
peninsula, roughly following the route of modern Interstate 4 thru Orlando, to Tampa
Bay. This was called the Black Bear Trail.
