Dear Friend,
You are cordially invited to attend the organizing meeting of a new Middle
Peninsula African-American genealogy group. The meeting will be held on
Saturday, September 25, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at the Essex County Public
Library, 117 North Church Lane (Rt. 17), Tappahannock, Virginia.
The group will provide a forum for sharing knowledge of genealogical
techniques and resources and will create a network of persons with similar
interests. There will be opportunities to share with other researchers on
the Internet as well as in person.
Although the group's focus will be genealogical research in Essex,
Middlesex, King and Queen, and King William counties, anyone interested in
African-American genealogy is invited to participate. Persons who are
beginning to research their family trees and experienced researchers are
welcome. We invite you to share the surnames that you are researching for
the creation of a Middle Peninsula African-American surnames data base.
Do attend and become a part of a community of folk who are vitally
interested in genealogy and family history. If you would like to join the
group but are unable to attend this meeting, please contact us so that we
can notify you of subsequent meetings and include your surnames in the data
base. Persons who live at a distance are encouraged to participate in the
group electronically.
Feel free to share this e-mail with others who may be interested. For
further information, call Gloria Waller-Scott at (804) 758-3613 or Bessida
White at (804) 321-1206, or e-mail Bessida White at [log in to unmask]
Sincerely,
Gloria Waller-Scott
Bessida Cauthorne White
