I've just encountered two databases that other researchers may find helpful: First, the "Virginia Runaways Project," a database of runaway and captured slave and servant advertisements from 18th-century newspapers. It includes images of the actual advertisements, as well as searchable text. The URL is http://www.wise.virginia.edu/history/runaways/ Second, "Virtual Jamestown," searchable collection of maps, records, etc., from 17th-century Virginia. It's at http://jefferson.village.virginia.edu/vcdh/jamestown/page2.html Happy hunting! Scott Simpson http://va.genealogy.tripod.com/ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
