Looking for the Siblings, Wife and Ancestors of Stanford COMBS, b. 1858
in Raleigh Co., VA.

Stanford is the Father of George COMBS (in the 1900 WV Census in Cabin
Creek,
WV) b. 1894. Stanford's second Wife is identified as Nancy, 18 (his
first Wife was a Helen, and Mother of George). Also in the household is
a James COMBS, b. 1891, and a Christy COMBS, b. 1889.

George was the Father of Peggy Jean COMBS, b. 1924 in Thayer, WV.

In the 1880 WV Census for Raleigh Co., VA. There is a Stanford, 22,
nephew, Thomas MILLER, 26, head of household, Candes J. MILLER, 22,
Wife, Elizabeth COMBS, 66, Mother - In - Law, George, 3, Son& William, 4
1/2, Son. Candes' maiden name is therefore COMBS, as Elizabeth is her
Mother. Stanford is the nephew of Thomas by marriage, and would be the
Grandson of Elizabeth and his Father would be a Brother to Candes.

An ancestry.com listing posted by Donna L. Spencer (if your on the list
Donna, or someone knows her current e-mail address, please let me know)
has Candes as the Granddaughter of Elizabeth SAWYER/SAYERS, b. 1813 and
William COMBS, b. 1807 in Carroll Co., VA. and the d/o Columbus COMBS,
b. 1845 in Raleigh Co., VA (which is really Fayette Co., VA as Raleigh
is formed from Fayette in 1850) and Francis UNDERWOOD. This is different
from the 1880 Census above though.

If someone has access to the 1860 and 1870 VA / WV Censuses for Raleigh
Co.and can look for a Stanford COMBS in a COMBS household it may show
who Stanford's Parents are and establish his connection to William and
Elizabeth COMBS.

Any help would be appreciated.
