I applaud what Paul has said, though I think there are those here who don't believe it for a minute when he says "the truth is somewhere, not on either side, but rather, somewhere in the center." And that's fine, I have no problems when someone feels their position is right.

Just please do it civilly--

With evidence that I can evaluate myself. I have a Masters degree from an ivy-league university, and don't like being talked down to--

And please don't beat it to death.

No, I'm not the list moderator, but I think that asking for civility and respect is not an unreasonable request. If we can all be civil and respectful in the way we present controversy, then there should be no reason why we can't discuss and debate controversial topics. I may not agree with your conclusions, or you with mine, but that doesn't mean I'm not interested in what you have to say. The controversy about smallpox made me go do my own research, and I feel I profited from reading about the topic.
