"The Angola Link: The African Presence in Early Jamestown," a presentation by John K. Thornton and Linda M. Heywood, of Boston University, on Monday, April 23, 2007, at 2 p.m., at Virginia Commonwealth University's Student Commons, in the Richmond Salons III and IV, 907 Floyd Avenue.

John K. Thornton is the author of several books, including Africa and Africans in the Formation of the Atlantic World, 1400-1680 and Warfare in Atlantic Africa, 1500-1800. Linda M. Heywood is the author of Contested Power in Angola, 1840s to the Present. They are co-auhtors of the forthcoming book, Angolans in the Early Anglo-Dutch Atlantic, 1615-50. They served as consultants to the new exhibition gallery at the Jamestown settlement.
