Thanks to everyone who responded to my question. I believe we have found
Thomas Harvey Stewart's unit. Jeanette sent me the following household information
from the 1860 VA Census
1860 VA WAYNE WAYNE C H P O
Series: M653 Roll: 1383 Page: 732
June 4th
40 William STEWART 64 M Farmer 2400 2000 VA
Ellender " 61 F Housewife VA
Elizabeth " 41 F Servant VA
Harrison " 24 M Farm Labourer VA
Martha " 20 F Housework VA
Harvey " 16 M " VA
Then Sherri Millikin sent me information on a Thomas H. Stewart from the same
county:
Enlisted Company K, 8th Regiment, Virginia Cavalry, CSA 10 Nov 1861.
Re-Enlisted Mar 1864. Was killed four months later.
Description: Wounds received on the 11th of July in battle/picket duty
Died July 14, 1864 in Baltimore, MD
