Were the protestants who settled in the Elizabeth River, Lower Norfolk
County, considered "Puritans" or Anglicans?
According to my information, unconfirmed by me, my immigrant
Matthew HOWARD [d.LN Co 1659] was expelled from the church
there and exiled to the Anne Arundel Co MD.
Among my ancestors in AA Co was James WARNER. I am
searching for any definitive info on his parents. I have it that he was
born c1603 in UK, and died in AA Co 13 May 1673. His first
wife was Ann, possibly SKINNER, the possible mother of my
Catherine WARNER who married Samuel HOWARD.
The Quaker connection comes through James WARNER's
2nd wife, Elizabeth, widow of William HARRIS. She was a
Quaker activist, jailed in UK and America for her activities.
She died after Aug 1674.
Any clarification on this information would be greatly
appreciated. Charlie Weaver. Winston-Salem
