The private group was unable to raise enough money (about 25% of what was
needed) to restore and maintain the home. The sale to the original
purchasers is going through but I don't believe it has been finalized.

Subject: Boyhood Home of Robert E. Lee

>There is a house in Alexandria known as the Boyhood Home of Robert E. Lee
>(it belonged to a Fitzhugh when the Lees lived there) that used to be open
>for tours. Then it was sold to a private party to the dismay of many of
us.
>This past summer there was an effort to raise enough money to buy it from
>the private party. Does anyone know if that effort was successful?
