Ca Ira is still a place in Cumberland County and was a historic post office.
You can see a topo map of it by using the US Geographic Name Information
System ((GNIS)at
http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnis_web_query_form

Spell it as two words and, as always, be sure to click yes for the "Query
variant name? question. To see the map when you get the results page click
"View USGS Digital Raster Graphic (DRG)."

The name Ca Ira has given rise to a lot of speculation about its origin.
The version I like best is that it is named for a popular French song of the
times.

Hi all,

I have a will dated 1802, CumberlandCo in which a dau is bequeathed "a lot
and house in town of Caira." Is there anyone who can identify this town and
approximate location based on today's map?

Is there anyone who can give an approximate location for Oak Forest PO from
the 1860 census and would it be near the BuckinghamCo border?

Thanks!
Nel Hatcher
