I am sure you will find regimental records and perhaps histories of those units, and it may well be that the United Confederate Veterans records will reveal your men as members after the war. Try all on Google. Then too, wherever they lived after the war may have a record of them as having served, such records perhaps available through the local gen. society. I am sure you checked the 1910 census for that record, as well, huh? Lastly, you can learn much about the records of those regiments by searching the "War of the Rebellion" records on the net; again, find it through Google. Good luck. Paul

  Subject: Civil war Research

I am trying to do some research on my civil war participants of the
  confederacy in Virginia.
I have muster rolls, pension applications, and disability applications -
what else is there I could search for? I see holes where I would like info.
Is there anywhere I can find the command breakdown so I could search for
the history and battles? I have one in the 2nd Rockbridge Dragoons Co. H
14th VA Cavalry, another in 14th VA Cavalry but Co. G. Then I have the
Amherst Artillery, the Rockbridge Greys Co H 4th VA Infantry, and finally
the Rockbridge Guards Co H 25 th VA Infantry. I think most of these will
somehow fit into the Stonewall Brigade because they came form Lexington and
Rockbridge County. The names include Balser (Bolser), Mason, Slough,
Wallace and Wheeler ( not Joseph).
Appreciate any help I can get. I am heading for Salt Lake City this weekend
to do some research at the LDS library there and would like to include some
military research in my agenda. I have searched the web but haven't found
the breakdown I am in need of to help me sort out the history part.
Thanks in advance for any help from this wonderful group. Sincerely,
  Barbara in Idaho
