Hi Lesley,
I do know where it is more or less. I do not live in VA but have visited the
area where the house is. I have an article about it that was written by two
ladies for the Richmond National Battlefield Park who now runs the property.
The house dates back to 1723. But it is the Shelton name I am searching.
John Shelton built the house. And it is said his father was named John
Shelton but he is a ghost! There are no records of the man prior to 1706.
How did he come to own the land? There is no record. This is what I hope to
find out!!

I am not the lady you're looking for, but I think I know where the John
Shelton house is in Hanover County. Get the ADC Map Book of Metro Richmond
and go to Map 4. From Ashland take Mt. Hermon Road south to Stone Pass
Drive. The next road is Shelton Farm Lane. The house sits in the triangle
between the three roads.
I went looking for Perrin Mill House and drove into a cul de sac where the
property's owner, Mr. Garlick, pointed out 37 graves of Perrins in his apple
orchard! Then he told me that the Perrins also lived in the Shelton
farmhouse at some point in history. Also, someone named Paul Harrelson, an
orphan, was brought up in the house in the early 1700's, and I'm trying to
trace him.
This house is almost across the street from Mt. Hermon Methodist Church.

I am interested in getting in touch with a lady who did research on the
Shelton family who owned Rural Plains in Hanover Co. She worked on the
project with the Richmond National Battlefield Park around 2004.
The email the Park has is not good. If you have been in contact with
Victoria Tom’s will you please pass my request to have her contact me via
email?
Thank you very much.
