Sometimes some Doctors or the Clerks make errors in recording facts.
My Mother's birth certificate stated that HER mothers maiden name was MARS
when actually it was VIARS.  So accents & pronunciation & perhaps hearing
sometimes play a role in the way things are recorded.  So you can't always believe
what you find recorded as gospel as much as that hurts to say.
