We are indeed quibbling over a distinction between legally sanctioned  and
documented marriage which I believe is, among other things, notably property
matters, a legally recognized right to procreate. A "side" family, taking of a
mistress or concubine is just a personal decision to exercise one's basic
right to procreate with whom ever one pleases. I respect the right of anyone to
choose, with responsibility, their mate for procreation outside the
constraints of legal and/or ecclesiastical authority.
