If the obit gives the date of death as (for example) Thursday, Oct 20,
you can use a perpetual calendar to determine the year. Or if the
newspaper it was published in was published weekly, you can determine the
date published with a perpetual calendar.
Do you know what state she died in? If she lived in a small town, you
might be able to check with all the funeral homes, and/or all the
cemeteries.
There might be some information in Roy's military files. There should be
a death certificate.
