Hello, again!
The Library of Virginia reference librarian suggests looking at --
Miscellaneous reel 1320-1323
APA 757
Free blacks records, 1833-1863
In responding to my query, William Luebke, reference librarian, passed on truly appalling news. Due to budgetary problems, the LVA is unable to get the book The Hemingses of Monticello: An American Family. This is an important book about an important chapter of Virginia history. Publishers Weekly said -- "This is a scholar's book: serious, thick, complex. It's also fascinating, wise and of the utmost importance. " If the LVA can't afford such a book, we are truly in perilous times.
I hope LVA has it on a wish list to order when remainder copies are available. If the LVA can't afford this book, what else is it missing out on?
