Am searching for information on the following Civil War soldiers, with Craig
County, VA ties, who fought with the 30th Battalion VA Sharpshooters, CSA:

Giles T. Huffman
Jacob H. Huffman
J. T. Huffman
Thomas H. Huffman

According to information found in the Virginia Regimental History Series,
this may be the Giles Huffman listed in the 1860 Craig County Census, with
father Jacob, in the Midway Post Office District. It also claims he was
married to either a Martha or Elizabeth.

Jacob Huffman was captured & died at Camp Chase in Columbus, Ohio in 1865.
The regimental history book lists his parents as William & Rachel. It also
says that Jacob married an Isabella in Craig County in 1854 and that she
filed an application for & was granted a pension.

J. T. Huffman served as a substitute for Lloyd Caldwell. His postwar record
says he was residing in Craig County.

Thomas Huffman may have been the Thomas that was living with his mother Abby
in the New Castle Post Office District of Craig County in 1860.

I am trying to find these soldiers' connection to my gg grandfather, John N.
Huffman, who served in the same outfit. John N. Huffman was the s/o Thomas
Huffman & the grandson of Jacob Huffman. John N. Huffman had two known
brothers -- Caleb & Lewis R. Huffman.

John N. Huffman, Jacob H. Huffman & Thomas H. Huffman all enlisted on 31
January 1863 at New Castle in Craig County & were all privates in Company F
of the 30th Battalion VA Sharpshooters.

Can anyone help me place these soldiers in the appropriate families?

Thank you in advance for any information. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Mike Peters
