"Accepted" birthdate for Richard BENNETT son of Thomas and Alice
(---) (PIERCE) BENNETT is ca 1625. Supposedly his father Thomas
was born in 1580.

How sure is the 1625 birthdate of Richard? If his father was born in 1580,
a first marriage ca 1624 would be atypically late. I'd bet he married sometime
before 1610, in England, and that Alice was actually a second wife. Of course,
another question is -- how sure is the
1580 birthdate for the father?

Anyway, given the above scenario, could this Richard have been the
Richard who patented 300 acres in Isle of Wight, 2 March 1638, "due by
right of transportation of 6 persons by John Mils. 150 acres were upon the
bay behind Ambrose Meders Point and 150 acres at the Miles end upon west
of Thomas Davis." This Richard would have been born before March 1617.

Any thoughts on this?
