Charleen - There is a Cool Spring (not Springs) Plantation located in
Clarke County, Virginia, which was the site of a battle in July 1864.
Gen. Jubal Early withdrew from Washington, D.C. and passed through
Fairfax County on his way to Snickers Gap in the Blue Ridge. He was
pursued by Gen. Horatio Wright. The battle took place at a ford on the
Shenandoah River. See
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Cool_Spring for more information.
