Can anyone tell me what state Saunders Company of the 17th Regiment of Infantry originated from during the American Revolution? Can you direct me to a website that might give me more information about the unit?

In 1821 John Boulware and other heirs of William Bowlware, alias Bowler (deceased) were granted land in AR for William's service in this company. I'm trying to figure out how he might relate to my Bolers/Boulwares/Bowlers. One of my ancestors was William Boulware (Bowler) (b. ? - d. 1822) (parents: James Boulware (b. 1735 - d. 1792) and Agatha Rutherford (b. 1738 - d. 1821).)

Also, how common was it for people granted lands for service to sell them or some part of them and live somewhere else?

Thanks,
Lee Anne
