Don't know if is place to have such debates, but since our country's heritage depends on credible voting I respond once. My vote was cast in exactly the form described below, except in a school where supervised voting occurred. The candidates button lit up so there was no question for whom I voted. If I changed my mind and pushed another button if automatically corrected. When I was happy with my selections I pushed a final button which "locked" my vote. I haven't seen a Tennessee voting booth like the ones described in this fiasco for over 30 years. They may be somewhere - I just haven't voted in one.

I agree with all comments below and doubt if we will see home voting soon - though I favor internet voting. I recognize each option has its problems. One good thing coming out of this is we are likely to get some cleanup. I don't want to place blame other than to say if is just another bit of evidence of governmental incompetence. Then a well known Native American, Will Rogers said "Be glad you don't get all the government you pay for". I think I agree with this statement also.

I don't mind the "dog fight" so much. I think it is the way things get done - gets attention - and a chance to see how much media contribute. Every program wants to have both sides show up and have a fight. Who would have thought Jerry Springer would set the new standards for media journalism..

So rest easy knowing this country will survive whatever the outcome of this "dog fight" . No person is strong enough to kill this nation - even if elected President.

Have a nice Holiday.

I'm sure all of you are just as tired of this on-going
"dog fight" - (won't attempt to take sides here) - as
I am.

The thought I wish to propose is that since BOTH hand
counts AND "machine" counts are obviously so slow,
costly, and unreliable, it goes almost without saying
that we had BETTER fix the problem if our "Democratic"
way of life is to survive.

I'm also sure most of you have traded at various stores
which use the "touch screen" accounting systems at their
checkout stands. You don't have to find the hole which
lines up with the item - you touch THE ITEM to select it
and the display changes color or whatever of the display
of the item name. If an erroneous entry is made, simply
touching the RIGHT one changes the selection - instant
unmistakable "feedback" to the operator.

If we had taken all the monies spent by the politicians,
news media, and all the other folks who want to meddle,
muddle, delay, distort, and such on this election, we
could have bought,
installed, and paid for such a system with all necessary
security measures, installed in each and every citizen's
home, and the results of the election would be complete
and accurate as modern technology can make it 30 seconds
or less after the last poll "closes"
