The Library of Virginia is pleased to announce the opening on Monday, 18
April 2005, of "Virginia Collects: Art From Capitol Square," an
exhibition of 50 paintings and works of sculpture. These choice items
are part of the state's large and distinguished art collection, many of
which are normally on display in the Capitol of Virginia, which is
currently undergoing extensive rennovation.

Artists represented in the exhibition include George Catlin, Sir Francis
Leggatt Chantrey, John Adams Elder, Joel Tanner Hart, Jean-Antoine
Houdon, Hiram Powers, Frederick William Sievers, Thomas Sully, and
Edward Virginius Valentine.

The exhibition at the Library of Virginia is free and open to the public
from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 A.M., Monday through Saturday, state holidays
excepted, from 18 April 2005 through 1 April 2006. There is free
underground parking for library patrons.
