Scott,

I don't see anything unusual. In order for a deed to be legal, the wife of
the seller had to freely give her consent to the sale, to ensure she wasn't
being deprived of her property or dower rights. Usually she came to the
courthouse to do that, but in this case, apparently she couldn't for
whatever reason, so the court sent somebody to her - rather considerate, I
think! The language you show is pretty standard.
