"Genealogy Without Documentation is Nothing" - Paul Drake
To answer some questions and add some info....
This was a will recorded in Henrico in 1680. The signature, if belonging to
who he is believed to be, belongs to a man about 70 yrs of age. He did not
write the main body of the document where his name is quite clear and
distinctly different from his signature.
H B Gill believes the name was written by a man taught to write in the early
17C and that the name is Hatch.
Since this is supposed to be the sig of William Hatcher, it does look like H
B hit it on the head....with Wm getting a little sloppy with the end of his
name.
Is this puzzle solved or do we still have problems?
Nel
