Dear Madaline Preston:

Family Tree DNA obtained enough DNA material from my cheek swabs 4 years ago to continue to offer to me - and perform - more sophisticated tests as they become available. The testing has come down in price significantly and from time to time they offer discounts or coupons.

At this point, I have learned that my distant ancestors were most certainly Celts who three to four thousand years ago lived in the mountain / lake districts of southern France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland before migrating north along the Rheine River to settle the coast of the English Channel from Normandy in France east to Denmark before successive waves over hundreds of years migrated to England.

How much more does one wish to know?

William Milam

Is there a way/location to leave your DNA for the future.....much like you
do for sperm and embryos? I'd like for it to be available when science
has progressed to a place when all these females in my lines will no longer
hinder things AND at a time when my children decide to take some interest
in our family history. As old as they are, their eyes still glaze over at
the mention of their past. It is always an "oh there goes mother again"
moment when the subject of who begat whom comes up.
(Also when the testing becomes routine enough to be more affordable.)
Wishful thinking???
M. Preston
