Virginia Pensions were done in the years 1888 and 1900: all other would be
from 1902 to 1934. Check out Fold3 for more information.

Probably not during the war, but most Southern states began pension programs
for vets and widows of vets in the late 1890's, so if she was still alive
then she could have applied. What was her name and the name of her late
husband? Did they live in Virginia?

I ordered my great grand uncle's civil war full pension for $25.00 and full
military paperwork for $75.00.  Yes, it is very much worth it.  Good Luck.
