Janice,
Do you know if the James Atkins who married "your" Elizabeth Smith (out of
"your" Edward Smith and Lettice Green) was part of the same overall Atkins
family as the Atkins who were in Amelia/Prince Edward Co., VA (PECo) in the
mid-1700s? The Davison/Davidson family in Amelia/PECo married into the
Atkins family there on at least three occasions. In addtion, a John C.
Brown....whose family was very closely associated with those
Davisons/Davidsons....married an Elizabeth Atkins in PECo in 1756. One
record that I found claimed that a daughter of that John C. and Elizabeth
(Atkins) Brown was named Green Lea Brown....and I was just wondering if that
name POSSIBLY came from "your" Lettice Green. The above Davidson/Davison
family was headed by a John Davison (died 1754 in PECo), and he had been in
Spotsylvania/Orange Co., VA from the 1720s until around 1743, when he moved
to Amelia Co., VA.
Thanks,
Bill
