I just did searches on 2 different recent databases at Ancestry.com. Each
time the search showed how many hits there were but a screen came up saying
it was a restricted database along with instructions for signing up as a
paying customer.

I just did two searches on two different databases today and had no
trouble. Try it again and see what happens.
