Mike - get this land record. Jacob's wife should be listed, as by law she
had to release her interest in the land. That will tell you whether his
wife at the time was Rachel or Rhoda. It's also possible he had 2 wives. If
you really want to know, you should get all his land sale records and also
see if he left a will or probate records. You can also check death records
on his children, as after 1853, parents were named on death records if the
informant knew them. Ditto for marriage records. Perhaps the older children
had Rachel as a mother and the younger ones (or none of them) had Rhoda.
