Hello List: The Southwest part of Pennsylvania was a part of Virginia and I
am guessing that this was prior to 1781. Washington County, PA was formed in
1781. Would the LVA have any records, and would this area be called
Monongahela? How would I find the sources, if any?

Just a general research questions; Do the individual State Archives have most
colonial records, if any? Prior to the American Revolution, or prior to a
county being formed, would the records, if any, be in State Archives rather
than the specific county courthouse?

Thank you
Sharon Leonard
