My ancestor was a defendant in Rockingham Co. VA Court (Minute Book) in Feb.
1794. He appeared in court and stated he did not have any property and took
the oath of insolvency pursuant to an act of assembly for the relief of
Insolvent Debtors.

What was the Oath of Insolvency and what might have happened to him and his
family as a result?
