      South Norfolk Genealogy...

Yesterday I started this YahooGroup in the hopes of advancing genealogy
concerning the South Norfolk area of Chesapeake Virginia. Genealogy is a
hobby that I have pursued since 2005 and have found fascinating. My husband was
born and raised in South Norfolk which was a county at the time of his birth. In
1963 South Norfolk and Portlock County merged with other parts to become
the city of Chesapeake. This past year I have started to work on my husband's
ancestry and found very little information concerning genealogy in South Norfolk,
hence the purpose of this group.

Some of the surnames I've been researching are Forehand, Scott, Rodgers,
Ford, Harper, Jordan and Daniel. I have lived in South Norfolk for over 25 years
and it is a neighborhood rich in history, parts of this area are designated historic
and the neighborhood is experiencing a huge push towards revitalization.

Http://HistoricSouthNorfolk.com offers a wealth of current and historic perspective
about this area. It also contains articles written by local historian/author Raymond L.
Harper. I would be more than happy to assist with informational look ups as time allows.
Interested researchers please join using the link below to share and gain information
concerning South Norfolk family history as this is the only Yahoo Group that I know
of that will do so. It is a work in progress with any help being greatly appreciated.

      Kind Regards,
      Vicki Ford

Note: In order to join this group you will need a Yahoo email address. If you don't already
have one it's free and easy to set up. After joining this group you can change your settings
so that posts will be sent to any email address you would care to use.
