The Pittsylvania County chancery causes, 1771-1869, have been digitized and
made freely available through the Chancery Records Index.

https://www.virginiamemory.com/collections/chancery/

Each of Virginia's circuit courts created chancery records that contain
considerable historical and genealogical information. Because the records
rely so heavily on testimony from witnesses, they offer a unique glimpse
into the lives of Virginians from the early 18th century through the First
World War.

The project was made possible by funding from the innovative Circuit Court
Records Preservation Program (CCRP)
<http://www.lva.virginia.gov/agencies/CCRP/>, a cooperative program between
the Library of Virginia and the Virginia Court Clerks Association (VCCA)
<https://vccaonline.org/>, which seeks to preserve the historic records
found in Virginia’s circuit courts. The $98,225 project is the 92nd digital
chancery collection added to the Chancery Records Index.
