Allied lines include Trowbridge and Booth. In the mid-1830's, I believe Catherine died and the family moved to Peoria County, Illinois where the rest of the children married and raised large families marrying into the Browns, the Stansbury's and Nelsons.
I have found James and Catherine's marriage bond with suretor James Booth, who I believe is a relative of Nancy Booth who married a George Shrode. Catherine and George were the children of Solomon Shrode and Mary Ann Neff.
I have census records through 1830 in VA, then in Illinois and then in Iowa, where James died.
James' parents are a brick wall. Through DNA I have found autosomal descendant matches to James Shane and Elizabeth Short, daughter of Sixtus Curtz and Sarah Keller.
Although census records state James was born in Virginia, I believe he was born in Fallowfield, Washington County, PA, traveled to Jefferson County, OH and then for some unknown reason, went to Virginia possibly after his father died in 1804 in Ohio.
I find no land records. The Shanes and Shrodes were enumerated in censuses in the same areas. James could not read or write.
I have an extensive history of the descendants of James and Catherine, but he is a mystery before 1809.

Any advice?
Thank you
Teresa
