Do not forget that FTM published way over 30 CDs that they sold to people at
about $30 a piece that contained information that people freely submitted to
them. Much of what is being discussed could have been on one of these CDs. They
were purchased like *hotcakes* when they first came out for you could connect
with someone who had researched your line. But as time went on, people
changed ISPs and you could not reach them. And you would discover that a gedcom of
about 12 people were on many. The submitters realized they could send tiny
gedcoms and get the *reward* whatever that was.
I have sworn off of FTM and Ancestry.com. Not worth the headaches.
