Your research is correct. William Henry Boyer of Alexandria was my great grandfather. He married Sarah Anne (a/k/a Nannie, Annie Curtis Gore at the outbreak of the CW. Upon occupation, she fled Alex. and moved in with her parents in Fredericksburg. WHB was in an out of combat during the war including a stint in a union prison camp where he was later exchanged. He was inactive for most of 1863 recovering from wounds but resumed fighting in 1864 and ultimately died in hospital in Petersburg April 11, 1865. During his leaves of absence, he managed to father two children Nelly Lee and Charles William (my grandfather). After the War, Sarah remarried Samuel Jefferson also of Alexandria. I am currently researching Boyer's in Alexandria and may have information of use. I have WHB's father and grandfather. Would love to share my info with others researching Boyers in N. VA.
