Newton Keene may have been involved in the War of 1812 as a Fairfax County
militia member who participated in the Battle of the White House (not the
president' house) in 1814.  This was a battle between the British navy and a
U.S. force (probably militia) that took place on the Potomac River opposite
land now owned by Ft. Belvoir, as the British left Washington burning.  Jack
