Thanks. I think not; though my NC Drakes were in the war very early, they did not participate in any of the 7 days battles.
Hey, Deane, it is none of my business, of course, but you ought to be on/subscribe to the VA Library/Archives website [log in to unmask]; you could contribute MUCH to our knowledge by reason of your depth of recollection, family memories, and interest in your wonderfully historic area of VA.
Hope you are well and happy......... How is the newest member of the clan?

THE NELSON FAMILY BOUGHT MALVERN HILL FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNERS, THE COCKE FAMILY.
MY GRANDFATHER BOUGHT MALVERN HILL FROM THE NELSON FAMILY SOMETIME DURING THE 1920's.
I THINK THAT MALVERN HILL HAS HAD ONLY 3 OWNERS SINCE COLONIAL TIMES.......THE COCKESES, THE NELSONS AND THE FERGUSONS.
WE DID NOT OWN MALVERN HILL DURING THE WBTS BUT I HAD ANCESTORS ON BOTH SIDES OF MY FAMILY WHO FOUGHT THERE. FERGUSONS FROM NORTH CAROLINA AND KINGS AND FARRARS FROM VIRGINIA.
WERE ANY DRAKES THERE?

I did not know that Nelson lived at "Malvern Hill"; indeed, that he died there in 1818. If you are so inclined, tell me whether or not his house was in close proximity to that of your family/Grandfather.
