Kathleen - have you gone into the web site for the DC library system? There
is an entire section on Boss Shepherd (to say nothing of sections of the
city, neighborhood and even a restaurant north of Dupont Circle named after
him, with lots of his memorabilia). As there has been a recent article on
him in the Post you might also go to washingtonpost.com and click on Archives.

 Subject: Governor Shepherd

I am seeking information about the family of Governor Alexander Robey
"Boss" SHEPHERD of Washington, DC, ca. 1830-1902. I have found
references to his activities, but nothing about his parents or
 siblings (if any).

I'm particularly interested in his female relatives--mother, sisters,
aunts, wife. Does anyone have any information about them? Does anyone
know of a connection to a GREGORY family of Georgetown?
