Were schoolteachers exempt from paying taxes in colonial Virginia? An
ancestor was a schoolteacher 1750-1810 in Albemarle Co., VA. I do not find
him on early tax lists even though he owned land and property. If exempt,
would there be a list some place of those exempt?
