Hi Alice,

I offer a comment on only your last point:

Many churches, Baptist kept minutes just like the Quakers, accepting new
members into the fold, admonishing or kicking out those who drank too much,
committed crimes, abused spouses and children, didn't attend church. In one
Cocke Co TN set of Baptist Church membes a member was kicked out for becoming
a "Free Will" Baptist.

I recommend that in addition to calling as many people as you can that you
know might be connected with descendants of church members, that you consider
calling (5 cents a minute even long distance is cheap if you need info fast)
two possible sources:

(1) the Albemarle Historical Society, might be familiar with local extant
church records.

Here is the home page with phone number for the Historical Society:

http://monticello.avenue.org/Community/Agencies/ACHS/home.html

(2) The "Center for Baptist Heritage & Studies and the Virginia Baptist
Historical Society at the University of Richmond" has a website with contact
information here:
http://www.baptistheritage.org/contact_us.htm

The homepage is here: http://www.baptistheritage.org/

They may have archives or know if there are minutes, membership lists kept.

FYI, an example of Baptist Church minutes is found in the Big Pigeon Creek
Baptist Church online records (and other Baptist minutes) at the Cocke Co TN
website link: http://www.rootsweb.com/~tncocke/links.htm

Good Luck,
Janet Hunter
