The Library of Virginia is seeking a Senior Circuit Courts Program
Archivist. The Senior Circuit Courts Program Archivist assists in the
coordination and implementation of the Library's Local Records program
in behalf of the Virginia Circuit Court system by providing assistance
and information on ranges of archival, consultative and grant services
and on the conservation-preservation and the reformatting of circuit
court records; by participating in the inventory and appraisal of court
records, training and other information sessions; by assisting
constituent processing projects; and by assisting in the development,
expansion, and implementation of the Chancery Records Index.


Qualifications

A degree in applied history/archival studies, U. S. history or library
science or related field. 
Graduate degree in one of the above disciplines preferred. 
Knowledge of archival and records management practices and procedures. 
Knowledge of archival description functions. 
Knowledge of the organization of Virginia circuit court records, and of
online archival-description and office utilities. 
Knowledge of basic conservation-preservation procedures. 
Knowledge of microform and electronic reformatting. 
Knowledge of Virginia history and local government. 
Excellent interpersonal, writing, and other communication skills. 
Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex projects. 
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with professional and
paraprofessional staff across multiple programs and with outside
constituencies. 
Demonstrated ability to design and deliver training programs. 
Demonstrated ability to represent the program to the archival community,
elected and appointed local government officials, diverse audiences, and
constituent groups. 
Must pass a background check. 
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may
substitute for educational requirements.
