Have you considered donating them to the Library of Virginia or a Historical Society vice recycle bin if not claimed?

Regards,

Subject: [VA-ROOTS] Genealogy research up for grabs

Greetings, All!
A friend of mine recently received 4 large boxes of genealogy from someone who had received it from the estate of Robert W. Williams. Mr. Williams has done a lot of research on his family lines, and now this data is headed for the recycle bin. I have been asked if I could find someone online who might be interested in having the boxes of material. I'm trying to find a good home for this material.

Looking at the SSDI, I believe this may be the Robert W. Williams, born 1911, died in 1997, but I don't know. Robert lived in Alexandria, VA, for anyone who may have worked with him on these families.

More info about what is in the boxes:
A lot of the material seems to be on the WILLIAMS and HUDGENS/HUDGINS families.
Some photos
a few scrapbooks (various families)
some hard-bound books (some listed below)
some soft-bound books/booklets (all family history)
lots of Family Group Sheets, various families (Williams, Hudgins, Morrison, Davidson, etc) (hundreds of them)
Old certificates (discharge from the Army Navy Union, Boy Scout Certificate from 1912, etc)
other odds and ends

I pulled a random groupsheet, and here's some of the info:

William GILLHAM, born 1750, in Augusta Co., VA, died 27 OCT 1825, in Greene Co., IL
	married to Jane McDOW
Children (all born in South Carolina)
	Margret 03 MAR 1770 - 21 SEP 1818
	Agnes 19 OCT 1776 - 12 FEB 1844
	Sarah 27 AUG 1778 -
	William 19 MAR 1782 - 19 SEP 1849
	John D. 27 JAN 1783 - after 1850
	Ezekiel - 08 APR 1845
	Mary (Polly) 1786 -
	Jane

Also, a pedigree chart went back (on the WILLIAMS line) to:
John William, born 19 SEP 1764, in Brunswick Co., VA, married 15 NOV 1787, to Amelia Gill, who was born 29 MAY 1772 in Franklin Co., NC.

Some of the books (mostly hard-bound, I didn't keep track of which were hard-bound and which were soft-bound):

Morrison-Williams, Second Edition, 1989, by William Mann Morrison

Philip G. And Jessie Hartwell Davidson, by Elizabeth D. Wheatley and Philip G. Davidson Jr., 1987, Greenwood, MS

The Family of Jane Foot Davidson, Includes PAGES of Virginia and FOOTS of Connecticut and New York

A Kirkpatrick Genealogy: The Descendants of James Kirkpatrick, 1715-1786, by Melvin E. Kirkpatrick

Charles Springer of Cranehook-on-the-Delaware, His Descendants and Allied Families,
by Jessie Evelyn Springer, 1959

Houlder Hudgins of Mathews Co., Virginia, and his Descendants, by Houlder Hudgins IV, 1958

Please contact me off-list if you are interested in this material, or on-list if you have suggestions that could be useful to anyone trying to dispose of their (or someone else's) family research.
Thanks, Roger
