I do understand the point. You have found someone and are satisfied with his
work. I was just trying to make a point. That point is that BCG associates
have been tested on their skills and you can rely on that test as an evaluation
of their skills. They go through the process every five years. Most associates
do not take "small" commissions such as the one you and others have described.
Associates usually get clients who have hit brick walls or who want the
information they have gathered evaluated. My post was intended to educate folks on
the list who are unaware of all of the resources they can use to solve a
problem. The problem in this case was how to find a person to get a record for you
at the LVA. I would certainly be the last one to take a client from another
genealogists. It is against the BCG code of ethics we all sign every five years.
Education and exchange of ideas is what these lists are about and I find many
do not know about the certification process.  That is why I and many of my
colleagues use the default signatures.
Most list have a rule against commercial use. I hope this helps you to
understand a different perspective. Margaret
