When looking at the tax lists check to see if they include a date the list was received. It's usually the very first column. I've been told that the county district was divided into multiple little sections and all individuals within each little section had to submit their property lists by a certain date. So if you were to got through the tax list and find everyone who submitted their list on a certain date then you could say that those individuals lived in the same proximity.

I use this method to ascertain if individuals with the same surname are possibly related to each other since family had a tendency to live close to each other, especially children next to parents. It offers clues that can be used when no other clues can be found. This also works for possible in-laws.
