I lost track of the original request, but I purchased an HP 7310 all-in-one
printer last year, and I couldn't be happier (well, if all of this laser would
be better I guess). I paid about $340, technically, actually $400, but got
a $60.00 store card at either Office Depot or Staples (can't remember which
offhand). Since most of us would end up easily spending that much money it
was worth it. I invested in a lot of photo paper with the savings, which was
come in unbelievably helpful in sending copies of old family photos to my
cousins (as was promised along time ago when I was given them as the family
repository person).
Not only are the copies superb, especially pictures printed on photo paper
to my surprise since it isn't a so-called photo printer, but it does two-sided
copying great, and is VERY fast at printing on the lower settings. It has
several different quality settings but after printing out a complicated
multi-colored webpage in all settings I found very little difference between them,
except for speed. And that difference was tremendous.
The scanning is excellent, and I have finally mastered the faxing after a
couple of hiccoughs.
BUT from a genealogy research point of view one of the many reasons for my
purchase was that it also copies and prints LEGAL sized pages. I have tons of
legal-sized pages from research, as I imagine many of you do.
Good Luck!
