Paul,

Thanks so much for pointing me to the website. The old Moravian handwriting
link worked, but several of the others must be broken. So with your great
suggestion of looking at German handwriting, I searched and found this great
site that has two tables that show several examples of each letter, both as
capital and lowercase.

I was amazed. I would never have interpreted some of the letters as what
they really were. The "flourish and first letter" that I was trying to
figure out was Sch. I was amazed to see that a lowercase t looked a lot like
an l, and that a lowercase e looked a lot like an n with a period after it.
