Fellow Virginia Resarchers:

I am wondering if someone has a good list of those VA parish registers and
vestry books that are still in existence but have not been
transcribed/abstracted in their entirety. I am assuming that all have been
filmed in their original, unindexed form.

I personally know of two I understand aren't available in book form yet:

(a) Southam Parish Vestry Book (Cumberland & Powhatan) which has been
transcribed but is awaiting publication by LVA...How's that coming anyway?

(b) an Essex Co Vestry Book or Register, about which I don't have the details.

Are there others out there we should know about? Anyone have any individual
documents to add?

I could not find anything in the LVA's website index specificlly referring to
Parish formation. http://www.lva.lib.va.us/siteindex/index.htm

Because new parish formation was often in advance of county divisions, and I
have found the five libraries I have researched all making wildly different
choices in which county or other location to shelve parish
transcription/abstract books under, and because both registers and vestry
books are valuable resources, I was curious about what's out there yet to be
transcribed/abstracted.

Thank you very much.
