NEW ON OUR WEBSITE 



 



Our index of Prince William County People now covers the entire eighteenth century, 1701-1800.  The 1800 personal property tax list was recently added.  http://eservice.pwcgov.org/library/digitalLibrary/index.htm <http://eservice.pwcgov.org/library/digitalLibrary/index.htm>  



We now have a direct link to a list of all our cataloged manuscript collections.  For the Gossom Family Papers, 1897-1965, we have added a detailed guide prepared by RELIC volunteer Greg Mason. RELIC PROGRAMS 



 



Here are our latest offerings.  Funding for RELIC programs is provided by the Friends of Central and Bull Run Libraries.  Sign language interpretation is available for Prince William Public Library programs if requested at least three weeks in advance. Except where noted, all these programs will take place at the community room at Bull Run Regional Library, 8051 Ashton Avenue, Manassas, VA.  Most programs last about one hour. RELIC'S GENEALOGICAL ROUNDTABLE 



  



            RELIC's Genealogical Roundtable returns in January, moderated by RELIC’s Don Wilson.   Bring your questions and your thinking cap.    It’s a chance to discuss your family history challenges in a group environment and get tips for new approaches.   It will be held on Thursday, January 10, at 11 a.m., at Bull Run Regional Library's community room.

ELIGIBILITY AND REQUIREMENTS

            Have you ever wondered if you qualify for membership in The Daughters or Sons of the American Revolution?  Learn about eligibility requirements and what documentation is needed to join these national societies from Marie Vayer, veteran genealogist and Registrar of The Prince William Resolves Chapter of the DAR.      



This program will be presented on Tuesday, January 22, at 7 p.m. at Bull Run Regional Library and will last about an hour.  (It is a repeat of a well-received program offered on October 11.) GENEALOGY 101 



Presented by Beverly Veness 



 



Those curious about their family history have an opportunity to learn about methods, strategies and resources for tracing their roots at a free session conducted by Beverly Veness of the RELIC staff.   The 90-minute program, “Genealogy 101,” is scheduled for Wednesday, February 13, at 2 p.m.  It will highlight the numerous free genealogical resources available at RELIC and will explore basic techniques for tracking ancestors.

A DEMONSTRATION OF FAMILY TREE MAKER GENEALOGY SOFTWARE

Wonder how a genealogy software program can help you organize and enhance your family research?   Family Tree Maker is one of the most popular programs available.  Whether  you are just beginning your exploration of  family history or you want to learn about  FTM’s advanced features, this demonstration by genealogist / technology instructor Susie Besecker will help. 



            See how to use Family Tree Maker to create reports and charts, note sources, manipulate information, calculate relationships, attach photos and images, import and export information, exchange data with other researchers and attach source documentation for your family tree. 



            The program will be presented at Bull Run Regional Library on February 19, 2013, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

“Genealogy Doctor” Accepting Appointments for Research Help 



 



Don Wilson, head of RELIC, sets aside time each month for  free private sessions to mentor persons researching their family history.  A thirty-minute session can be used to discuss and analyze an historical or genealogical problem that has stumped you.
